Rēnwa Yassīn Marries Middle Eastern and African Cultures with Her Eponymous Label

Established in 2019, Rēnwa Yassīn‘s eponymous label is essentially a marriage between her Lebanese roots and the culture of the land she was born and raised in, Africa. The young brand is committed to developing a wardrobe known for its unique cuts and subtle cross-cultural inspirations, using ecological and innovative fabrics. Sophisticated cuts draped in eco-friendly and sometimes, even unexpected materials, Yassīn brings her unique perspective to life with her designs. When asked about the brand’s core ideology, the designer told Savoir Flair, “I wanted my brand to reflect a part of my identity. Rēnwa represents sustainability, culture, history, and tradition with a minimal and sophisticated style. A desire to redefine standards and set new trends, a radical break from tradition that comes with modernity.”

Rēnwa values, appreciates, and respects all of its partners, from the mighty retailers to the small-scale manufacturers and suppliers. The brand is committed to establishing long-term partnerships with manufacturers and suppliers who treat their employees decently. Yassīn often experiments with different materials and surface ornamentation techniques in her designs. When asked about what inspires her to incorporate unique fabrics into her designs, Yassīn said, “I work with artisans from Africa and the Middle East. Growing up between these two cultures has taught me how to mix the different techniques. I want my designs to reflect who I am. Hence, I use materials from Africa made by local artisans and modernize them through the production techniques of the Middle East.”

Touching on topics related to sustainability and ethical production, Yassīn continued the conversation, “It is impossible to ignore the connection between human action and the environmental disaster that we are living and seeing every day. The fashion industry is a huge contributor; brands need to use more sustainable practices to help the planet. Rēnwa’s mission is to meet the need for sustainability for a better world and where women will be at the center of future generations.”
